The Laboratory of Water Resources Management, hereinafter referred to as "Laboratory", was established by order ╣ 347 of 18.12.2015.

STRUCTURE AND STAFF

Structural subunits of the laboratory:

• a mapping group responsible for geoinformation-cartographic support of research projects

MAJOR GOALS & TRENDS OF RESEARCH

• study of water resources and analysis of their use;
• assessment of water availability for the territories now and in the future;
• assessment and forecast of anthropogenic load on water objects and their catchments;
• assessment of water safety of regions, long-term forecast of conditions for the formation of emergent water-related events;
• estimation of probable damage to the population and economic objects caused by floods;
• development of scientific bases for spatial organization of nature conservation systems by the example of water objects;
• development of guidelines for rehabilitation and restoration of water objects;
• assessment and forecast of water-ecological situations based on remote sensing methods;
• geoinformation-cartographic modelling of regional water supply systems;
• ecological assessment of water-economic projects, projects for water protection zone and coastal area including assessment of environmental impacts of small hydropower plants.

Note: the study and evaluation of water resources of Siberia are conducted in collaboration with other research units.
